Foreword

1949 – the year clothes rationing ended in Great Britain – the year General Mao Tse-Tung proclaimed the People’s Republic of China.. 1949 was also the year William and Connie McGovern founded a small brick delivery service in Felling, Co Durham.

Connie managed the office side of the business while Bill delivered bricks in the one and only wagon. With hard work and customer consideration, this man and wife team laid down the foundations of a thriving and progressive firm.

Today the firm is still controlled by the McGovern family. Connie’s son, John McGovern is managing director, while John’s son, David is a Sales Representative – thus three generations with this limited company. They are ably assisted by a very experienced sales team.

The Head Office is still in Felling and at the storage depot up to 250 large display panels may be inspected. Over one million bricks are on hand to be delivered immediately to customers by a fleet of mechanical off-loading vehicles.
