GATESHEAD BRICK SUPPLIER BUILDS BUSINESS ACROSS THE NORTH WITH NEW APPOINTMENT

North East sustainable building materials supplier McGovern & Co. has appointed Steve Ruddick as Commercial Manager to support its continued growth and expansion plans across the North of England.

Ruddick joins from Marshalls Bricks and Masonry division, whose products are stocked by the Felling-based building supplies specialist, which holds more than two million bricks at its Albion Street depot.

He has nearly 20 years’ sales and specification experience in the building materials sector.  He will be responsible for expanding the company’s customer base across the North of England including architects, builders, homeowners and builders merchants looking for sustainable building solutions from industry experts in a business with more than 70 years’ experience.

Managing Director Andrew Pickersgill said: “It’s a really exciting time for everyone connected to the business and Steve's passion for sustainable building materials matches McGovern’s ethos of People, Planet, Profit – in that order. It's a busy time for the construction industry and we're delighted that Steve has joined us to help with our continued expansion and growth across into the North West and beyond."

McGovern & Co was established in 1949 and holds the largest stock of bricks in the North East.  It was acquired in 2020 by the Alpaca Group, a team of growth specialists renowned for disrupting traditional industries and creating new ways to support business growth.
